Voi here! Thank you all for an amazing 2024! After a semi-long hiatus that took up much of 2021-2023, I'm happy to say that VOISTAR Project is on a new, very promising trajectory! A big, heartfelt thanks is in order for everyone who supported VOISTAR Project! Thank you all so much!!
Now, let's talk updates and news! I've kept everyone waiting long enough; it's time to reveal what's happening this year!
HOUSEKEEPING - Pardon Our Dust!
As this project gets larger and larger, I'm constantly improving site design and layout. There may be some broken links or buttons that look odd; if you find these, just tell me through the CONTACT section! On the voice side of things, there are some updates coming down the pipe to increase accessibility for some older VOISTAR voices, such as SONJA Natural. In fact, the pages for SONJA and the MIKAs have undergone slight redesigns to make it easier to find their various voice libraries.
This is great segue to talk about our next housekeeping point; multiplatform voices and deprecation. While this project originally started primarily as a DeepVocal project, we have moved away from that platform in favor of UTAU/OpenUTAU. As the voices got bigger, UTAU just became the easier to use engine (and many people agreed). Going forward, DeepVocal voices will no long be prioritized for development. SONJA and MIKA Deimos/Phobos for DeepVocal will remain available, but no more DeepVocal voices will be produced. This also goes for esoteric platforms such as Renoid and v.Connect STAND. Occasionally, a character may receive a vocal for one of these engines, but they are no long a focus. Characters that already have multiplatform voices in development will see these voices released.
Newer voices will be outfitted with voice colors, such as GROWL and voice tone changes, and older voices will be slowly retrofitted with these new capabilities. Some of these features may be augmented with AI technology; if this is the case, the feature will have a small "AI" next to it!
AURORA - Splitting Light
AURORA was one of the first voices made for this project, and although she has a dear place in my heart, it was time for a facelift. When she was created, her VA was selected out-of-sync with her design, meaning that she was not represented by a POC actress. However, this is being rectified! AURORA 1.0, the original voice, is being retired in favor of a brand-new voice featuring the amazing design by @superkiisa. AURORA 1.0's design and voice will become a legacy content; users will still be able to download and use them, but they will no longer be officially supported by VOISTAR Project.
AURORA 1.0's original VA, Faux Synder, is being moved to a brand new voice; introducing...
SPECTRA - Prism Incarnate
SPECTRA! She is AURORA's "sky sister"; what is an aurora if not a rainbow at night, and vice versa? SPECTRA is loaded with voice colors, fitting her theme, including a "Native" voice color that mimics the tone of AURORA 1.0's original voice. Look forward to SPECTRA soon!
D/LITE - Jumping (Soon) to a Dimension Near You
D/LITE has been a darling little rascal, and she's coming very soon! English is a new frontier for this project, and admittedly, it took a bit longer than I had initially expected! Nonetheless, D/LITE and D/LITE Squared are slated for a late February release!
CODENAME: ORCHARD - A Splash of Citrus
Not much to say on this one just yet; this voice has three designs! More will be revealed at a later date.
CODENAME: SUNSPOT - First Male Vocal
Introducing... well, we don't know his name yet (although he might)! Our first male vocal, based on sunspots and solar energy, is being designed to tackle rock and pop. Voiced by E. Sterling, this smooth, mellow voice will make you see stars! Voice previews forthcoming!
